Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes Preview

While it seems we have been left without an Unearthed Arcana for the month of March, we instead got a nice little preview from Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes!

Much like Volo’s Guide to Monsters before it, Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes promises expanded lore and background info on monsters and history, varieties of our favorite stout and pointy-eared friends, as well as new monsters with an emphasis on demons and devils. If you liked the way that Wizards of the Coast has been doing supplements this edition, you’re bound to like the Tome of Foes!

This preview focuses on some already familiar stout friends, the Duergar. We don’t get too much, just a few tables, focusing on clan names, clan status, clan traits, story hooks for Duergar, and even some quirks! I like these previews because they don’t spoil the best, but reinforce the type of information we can expect on the covered monsters therein.

We haven’t had a whole lot on the Duergar so far this edition, so it is nice to see things like clan names that give them a distinct feeling from other types of dwarves. Names like Mindeater, Knifemind, and Doomfist don’t fit their mountain or hill cousins, and gives them some nice flavor.

Check out the preview for yourself and let us know what you’re excited for most when Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes lands later this year!
